Meal Train for Bouchard Family

Community Icon-01

One of the most important aspects of our CC community is the opportunity to support one another up in times of need. As certain needs arise in your family, please share them with other members of our CC community. Not only can we pray for those needs, we have a special opportunity to come together to serve one another.

Please keep reading to learn about one current opportunity to help within our CC community.

As you may already know, Rich and Emma Bouchard are in Peru serving on a mission trip until next week. In their absence, Star is holding down the fort at the Bouchard house, which —with six kids in the house — includes a lot of meal preparation.

The Bouchards do so much to be the hands of feet of Jesus (both here in Tulsa and abroad), so we have created a Meal Train to organize some dinners for Star and the younger kids. If you’re able to do so, please visit the Meal Train link below and signup for a night to take dinner to the Bouchard family.

Survey Says: Moms’ Retreat

[memberonly nonmember-redirect=”http://ccdowntowntulsa.com/membersonly/”]

Does anyone else hit the homeschooling wall during the month of February? Maybe some moms are wellsprings of energy and enthusiasm at that time of year, but in the dreary months of late winter, the doldrums can hit me hard.

In anticipation of this “February funk,” we are planning a moms’ retreat for February 2017 — a special weekend to recharge, be encouraged, and fellowship with other women in our community. No laundry, no diapers, and no long division. (Unless that’s how you unwind. In which case, we won’t stop you.)

But we need your input. I’ve created a short survey to help us understand you and your needs. Please click the button below and share your thoughts on how a retreat can best serve you.

BOOK IT! Enrollment is Open

[memberonly nonmember-redirect=”http://ccdowntowntulsa.com/membersonly/”]

Homeschool enrollment for Pizza Hut’s BOOK IT! program is now open. BOOK IT! is a reading rewards program that encourages students to reach their reading goals by offering incentives — including free pizza.

From the BOOK IT! website:

BOOK IT! motivates children to read by rewarding their reading accomplishments with praise, recognition and pizza. The program is simple for the teacher to use, flexible because goals match reading ability, and fun because achieving a goal is a great reason to celebrate! …

BOOK IT! runs every school year from October through March. The teacher sets a reading goal for each child in the class. A tracking chart and reproducibles are included to make it that much easier… As soon as a child meets the monthly reading goal, the teacher recognizes him or her with a Reading Award Certificate.BOOK IT! goals are based on reading ability. Number of books, number of pages, or number of minutes – they all work. BOOK IT! can also be used with the reading curriculum or as support for comprehension or intervention programs. For children not reading independently, the goal can be set where a parent or others read to the child.

Pizza Hut is proud of BOOK IT! kids! The restaurant manager and team congratulate BOOK IT! kids for meeting their monthly reading goal and reward them with a free, one-topping Personal Pan Pizza and a Passport to Reading and sticker on their first visit. On each subsequent visit, they get another stamp (sticker) for their Passport to Reading, another Personal Pan Pizza, and more kudos!

BOOK IT! is open to Kindergarten through 6th grade students. To enroll your kids in the BOOK IT! Program, visit the website here.
